Questions & Answers

HOW HOT DOES IT GET?

Witt Pizza Ovens reach optimal heat with remarkable speed, and achieve temperatures of up to 500 °C (950 °F).
In the ETNA range, the U-shaped burner delivers exceptional heat consistency across the entire pizza stone. This uniform, high-intensity heat ensures a perfectly crisp, artisan-quality crust while maintaining the ideal balance of beautifully cooked toppings.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAT UP?

Witt Pizza Ovens heat up the pizza stone in just 15 minutes.

Putting a pizza into a traditional oven often causes a significant drop in stone temperature, requiring time to recover and reheat. The Witt ETNA Rotante is thoughtfully engineered to eliminate this compromise. Featuring an integrated booster burner that continuously heats the rotating pizza stone from below, this oven guarantees consistent peak temperature for steady baking.

WHY ARE THERE BLACK FLAKES ON MY PIZZA STONE AFTER USING MY WITT PIZZA OVEN?

It is normal to occasionally notice small black flakes or chips on the pizza stone after use or before your next cooking session. These are typically harmless carbon residues formed during high-temperature cooking.
To maintain optimal cooking conditions and ensure the best results for your next pizza, simply brush the stone clean once it has fully cooled, and wipe down the interior housing of your oven.
(Please refer to your owner’s manual for further cleaning and maintenance of your Witt Pizza Oven).

FIRST TIME USE

Prior to cooking in your Witt Pizza Oven for the first time, it is highly recommended that you conduct a burn off.
Turn the main burner on high for 30 minutes, then turn off the main burner and let the oven cool down naturally. Once the oven has cooled, please use a paper towel to wipe the inside of the oven to remove any soot from the burn off. Be careful; the pizza oven may still be hot in some places.

WHY IS THERE A WHITE POWDER RESIDUE INSIDE MY PIZZA OVEN?

A light white powder residue from the burning of LP gas can be common on the inner housing, burner, or guard rail of your pizza oven. This is typically a natural byproduct of high-temperature operation, and does not impact the performance or safety of your oven.
Please use a cloth to wipe away this residue prior to using or after the pizza oven has cooled down. (Please refer to your owner’s manual for further cleaning and maintenance of your Witt Pizza Oven).

AFTER COOKING

For the best performance and longevity of your Witt Pizza Oven, we recommend adjusting the heat after each pizza is cooked. If you plan to continue baking, reduce the main burner to a low setting while you enjoy your pizza. Once you have finished cooking, ensure that both the main and booster burners are turned off completely.
Operating the oven on a high setting for prolonged periods without active cooking may lead to unnecessary wear and could compromise the integrity of your oven over time.
Thoughtful heat management will help preserve the oven's performance and ensure consistently outstanding results.

WHAT KIND OF GAS SHOULD I USE?

Use LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), commonly labeled as propane, butane, or bottled gas. These names all refer to the same type of fuel typically used for cooking and barbecuing.
LPG is widely available and can be purchased at gas stations, hardware stores, and campsites.

IS IT SAFE TO CLEAN THE PIZZA OVEN WHILE IT IS STILL HOT?

No. Cleaning the oven while it is still hot is not recommended, as certain cleaning tools or materials can melt, burn, or cause damage to the pizza stone and interior surfaces.
For best results and to protect your oven, always allow it to cool completely before cleaning. This ensures safe handling and helps maintain the quality and longevity of your oven.

WHY IS THERE DISCOLORATION OR “STRETCH MARKS” INSIDE THE ROOF OF MY PIZZA OVEN?

This is expected over time, and is a natural result of the enamel coating expanding and contracting through repeated high-temperature heat cycles.
These visual changes are purely cosmetic and do not affect the performance, safety, or durability of your oven.

HOW LONG DOES THE OVEN TAKE TO COOL DOWN?

Cooling time will vary depending on ambient temperature conditions. With their advanced insulation and heat retention, Witt Pizza Ovens maintain exceptional thermal stability and typically require around 1.5 hours to cool completely.
For your safety and to protect the oven’s finish, always allow it to fully cool before touching, moving, or storing it.

Never touch the surface or store the oven before it has cooled down!
WHAT ABOUT THE GAS REGULATOR AND HOSE?

The Witt Pizza Ovens are designed to give you flexibility in setup and therefore do not include a gas regulator and hose as standard.
These components can be purchased separately as accessories to suit your specific requirements.
